1. Where does the boat depart from?

We depart from the Spring Heaven Wharf at The Royal Madras Yacht club, Chennai Port. http://www.rmyc.in . Each Individual and Car/Bike will need a pass to enter into the port. Names of the guests have to be provided 48hours prior to the trip. Please note that any changes below 24 hours can be tried but can't be guaranteed as the port authorities issue the pass and they require time.


2. Do you do leisure charters apart from fishing?

Yes we do Bday Party Cruise, Sunset Cruise and Leisure Cruise. You will get to see the worlds second longest beach (Marina) and other attractions from a completely different angle from the water


3. How far in advance do I need to book?

It is best to book as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. Especially during peak fishing seasons


4. Do you cater for individuals and groups?

Yes, we cater for both individual and group bookings. To make it easy for you we can make up numbers for trips but you have to be flexible with date and time Or you are welcome to hire the vessel and crew exclusively.


5. Are Gift Vouchers available?

Yes, Gift Vouchers can be purchased by online transfer or cash. They are valid for 12 months. Gift vouchers will be sent by mail. Physical gift vouchers can be requested and envelope including gift voucher(s), invoice, brochures and a detailed information sheet will be mailed. The holder of the voucher can then books at their convenience. Gift vouchers are non-refundable.


6. How long are your fishing and leisure charters?

We have 3hr, 4hr, 6hr, and 8hr available. Game Fishing Trips for sailfish, Marlin, Tuna 8-10hrs.


7. What do I need to bring?

Our charters are crew and equipment all inclusive, however we have a few hints of what to bring & wear.


8. Can we bring alcohol to drink on the charter?

No, due to safety reasons we strictly do not allow alcohol onboard and people who come to board the boat under the influence of alcohol will not be allowed to board the boat and will not get a refund.


9. Can you help with Accomodation?

Yes, there are many accommodation close to the departure location. Please check trip advisor for Hotels and review or call us and we can guide you.


10. Do I have to be experienced?

We cater to both experienced anglers and novices. We are here to assist you and our friendly crew will help you throughout the day.


11. Do I get to keep my catch?

Marlin, Sailfish and GT are strictly catch and release only. With other species the decision is up to the Client. If the customer decides to keep the catch, they can keep only a few as per the bag limit per species which will be advised by the boat captain.


12. Once I make a booking is there any need to contact you?

Yes, you will need to contact us at least 48hrs prior to provide the guest and vehicle details for us to arrange the port entry pass. Also Inform us if you want to carry your own tackle so we can organise necessary permission letter to allow it inside the port. Changes made to names, vehicles below 24hrs from departure would be hard to accommodate as the pass is issued by the harbor authority, we will try our best but can't guarantee pass changes below 24hrs


13. Once I make a booking is there any need to contact you?

14. Do you supply rods and reels?

Yes we supply all your fishing equipment, Lures and bait. We supply top of the range rods and reels and all terminal tackle on replace if lost(Dropped overboard) or damaged basis.


15. Can I bring my own rod & reel?

Yes, you can bring your own rod & reel but need to inform prior to entering the port, as there are forms to be filled in to allow entry and exit of items into the port.


16. How many can fit on the boat?

Max 5 members on 2hr, 3hr & 4hr Charter. 6hr and 8 Hr Game Fishing Max 4 members.


17. Is food provided as part of booking?

6hr and 8hr charters will be provided with Coffee/Tea, Lunch, Light refreshments and Soft drinks. 3hr & 4hr charter will be provided with Soft drinks and light refreshments. Any special food requirements can be organised at additional expense and with 24hour prior notice.


18. Can seasickness tablets stop me from being sick and do you supply them?

In most cases seasickness tablets can prevent you from getting sick. We do not supply seasickness tablets or any other medications on board, as we do not know your medical history. If you wish to take seasickness tablets to avoid vomiting, you can purchase the tablets from any chemist before the charter and read the directions in regard to taking them. (Some tablets require you to take one tablet the night before and another 1 hour before boarding the boat and some brands just one tablet 30 minutes before departure) Please consult your doctor prior to usage if you are on any other medication.


19. When is the best time to go fishing?

Different fish feed at different times but overall best times for fishing are at Dawn(5 - 9) and Dusk(3 - 7). Game fishing would be all day charter departing at 5 or 7am.


20. Do you charter every day?

We charter all days except Tuedays. Tuesday operation can be done on special request but will incur additional costs as the Club is closed on Tuesdays and we need to pay additional costs to open the club.


21. What happens if there is unsafe weather and boating conditions?

Weather predictions keep changing and are more accurate only few days before the trip date. If the charter is cancelled by us due to unsafe weather conditions, the charter can be transferred to another day or charter deposit can be refunded. Gift Vouchers are non-refundable, however they can be transferred to a later date.


22. Do we pay a deposit?

Yes, to secure a booking we require a deposit of 25%. Payable by Online transfer, cash or money order. Money order payments must be made payable to Poseidon Sport Fishing Inc, direct deposit payments must include reference name. Please contact us for our direct deposit details. The balance has to be paid on day of the trip.

23. Refund Policy?

If the client cancels the charter 5 days prior to the charter, deposit will not be refunded as we could lose out on other clients who would have booked those days.

IMPORTANT

Based on the weather conditions we reserve the right to cancel a charter right up until the commencement of the charter to ensure safety for the clients. If this happens we offer a full refund or allow to book an alternative date based on availability but we will not bear the accomadition, travel costs etc. If customer cancels a charter 5 days before the trip, the deposit is forfeited. If a customer needs to transfer his charter booking to another date then we need minimum 48 hours notice. The skipper also has the right to deny any person he feels has been abusing alcohol or drugs from boarding our boat for safety reasons.

Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
